What this covers
These terms cover this website and the Lamplit closed beta. There is currently no way to purchase Lamplit; when there is, purchase terms will be published here before the first sale, not after it.
The beta
Beta software is unfinished by definition. It may crash, it may have defects we have not found, and features may change or be removed between builds. Use it on work that is already delivered, or on copies, until you trust it — the same advice we would give about any new tool that touches your originals.
Access to the beta is at our discretion and in limited waves, so we can answer everyone properly. We may end the beta or stop issuing builds at any time.
Beta participants are eligible for founding-member pricing when purchasing exists. That is an offer we intend to honour, and it is not a contract until there is something to buy.
Your files
Lamplit reads and writes files on your own computer, including metadata written into your photographs. You are responsible for having backups. Keep a backup. This is not legal throat-clearing: any tool that writes to originals can, in principle, get it wrong, and a Saturday wedding is not the moment to discover that.
You keep every right in your photographs. We claim nothing in them, and we never receive them.
No warranty
The website and the beta software are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost work, lost income or other consequential losses arising from use of the beta.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer where you live.
Acceptable use
Do not redistribute the beta builds, decompile them, or share your access with people who have not been invited — not because we are precious about it, but because we need to know who is running which build when something breaks. Lamplit is proprietary software; you get a licence to use it, not ownership of it.
Accuracy of what’s on this site
We work hard to keep the comparison and format pages correct, and every claim about another company’s product carries the date we read it from their own site. Prices and features change without telling us. If you find something out of date here, write to us and we will fix it and re-date the page.
Trademarks
Photo Mechanic is a trademark of Camera Bits, Inc. FastRawViewer, Aftershoot, Narrative and Fovea are the trademarks of their respective owners. Lamplit is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. They are named here for the purpose of honest comparison.
